to the east

Went on a tour to the east with mariam & alfie. Yes it was one of my most worthwhile Monday since the holidays began. Was suppose to cycle at Changi Village but it rained so we just drank teh tarik and somehow we ended up at Changi museum Chapel. It was an interesting visit.

The 'mama' shop where we got our drink.

The Chapel museum

Seafood Hor Fun at MagicWok in DownTown East. Yes...we ended there in the end. Went cycling after having out lunch.
Had a great and tiring time cycling. Stop by the playground. It was freaking awesome!! There was like no one there. Had the playground to ourselves!!!!!!!! OMG I have to say the playground part was like totally my favorite~
Hahaha bought this key chain at Johore and it was seriously pure coincident that the bunnies match our phone. Lolss
Mine is the pink, my sis is the blue.
Will be going to Malaysia tomorrow!! Have been to KL like a thousand time but still I am glad I am going there...hahaha I am just so sick of staying in Singapore and a visit to KL will help.

shows movies

Went to Seoul garden with the uni gals and had a really great time even though it was at city square. Went to the movies with my sister the next day. Was suppose to watch either inception or despicable me but somehow one way or another we ended up watching crazies. lolsss well the show was pretty crazy the concept is the same like your resident evil concept. A virus leak, the town gets affected and the government trys to contain it through quarantine only to resort to totally annihilation in the end with the few heroes/ protagonist escaping...but still worth a watch if you like those zombies show.
After which went to some MLM talk. I seriously don't believe in MLM unless you have the time to spare. MLM reminds me of the tme me and gil went looking for a job after our A'levels and the people who called us for a supposed job interview was one of this MLM company..sighs sad much.

Went out with the JC bunch today. Was yet again supposed to watch inception but did not in the end...yea i know right wth...
Did our nails at Malaysia super super cheap!! Express was only RM8!!! Mine is the green I am so in love with the colour!! pretty colour~

Really love this

Saw this note posted by my friend on facebook and thought I re-post it since it was really inspiring.

What Teachers Make..
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued,
"What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in
life was to become a teacher?"

He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those
who can, do. Those who can't, teach."

To stress his point he said to another guest;
"You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want
to know what I make?

(She paused for a second, then began...)

"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.

I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't
make them sit for 5 without an IPod, Game Cube or movie rental.

You want to know what I make?" (She paused again and looked at each and
every person at the table.)

''I make kids wonder.

I make them question.

I make them apologize and mean it.

I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding isn't
everything.

I make them read, read, read.

I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain,
not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know
in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.

I make my students stand, placing their hand over their heart to say the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, One Nation Under God, because we live in
the United States of America.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were
given,
work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life."

(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

"Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money
isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because
they are ignorant.... You want to know what I make?

I MAKE A DIFFERENCE .

What do you make Mr. CEO?"

His jaw dropped, he went silent.

out with the gals

Went out with girls today. Had a great time chit chatting with them. It is just so fun to sit and chat non-stop.

end of se sec

I have come to the end of my school experience. Both Secondary and Primary have been great. As weird as it sounds I did enjoy my time in both school. Primary was really comfortable and fun because the other NIE trainees was a real friendly bunch and because of them, break-time always seem to end very fast. In Secondary school I learnt a lot..like really a lot. They gave us a run through of the financial aspect, the IT aspect, the CCA aspect and other aspect of what it's like being a full time teacher. I found this to be useful in helping me prepare myself mentally. The teachers were extremely friendly. The humanities HOD actually took time to talk to me about the possible syllabus change even though she actually did not need to make any time for me because it was not in my or her schedule. On the last day, when we went to thank the vice principal personally, she actually invited us in the room to have hear our opinion about our experience. I really felt welcome. The students were not that bad either. I actually had the opportunity to relief a secondary one class and thankfully I manage to control them. Ok fine I will admit it....I did enjoy my time interacting with the students. I have to say that I learnt more in my secondary school experience. Well I am not that looking forward to my next year experience there, at least for sure I am not dreading it either.

On another note I bought a camera!! IXUS 130 canon

sch expericence

School Experience at Anglo Chinese ( Junior) was actually rather fun. There were three other girls with me which made the whole experience better. Our time table were similar and we click really well. Spent 1 hr 30mins of our break at the canteen talking and time always pass so fast. The principal was friendly and always look so fresh and hyper. The other teachers were friendly too and some even told us their experience with the kids which was seriously hilarious.
My most memorable class had to be the Art class. We were given the opportunity to not only observe but tried out what seem like batik painting. That was really fun and the near the end of the lesson all the kids were gathering around asking why we were painting too. We were also given the opportunity to observe their music lesson which was very different from my primary school days. They have a dance instructor to teach them dancing and another instructor for drama...what an interesting music lesson or at least better than my boring one.
It is also very important to take note of the way one speak to the children. I was helping this 8 year old child with his Microsoft word when I thought I accidentally deleted the picture he drew which was a mouse. And the kid was like, 'where's my mouse?', 'where's my mouse?' and I panicked and accidentally exclaimed, 'Shit!' and realise it and said 'shit' again... Thankfully the boy was too busy thinking about his missing mouse to notice what I said. Like all fairytale, it had a happy ending. Apparently, I accidentally moved the mouse lower down the page..hahahaha so yea, all was well.
There was a kid who actually went up to my friend asking, 'Teacher, you got money?'. Sighs poor kid....the canteen food is really overpriced. I mean seriously, a green tea packet cost $1!! WTH...
There were other funny moments with the kids but I am too lazy to talk about them so I think I will just end here.
I had a great time sitting on the massage chair in the teacher's lounge.
Overall, I have to say that this experience was much better than I expected and I am almost sorry I have to leave.

Next week will be my Secondary school experience, hopefully it brings about the same satisfaction or better. I wonder what sort of experience I will get from observing irritating, self absorbed teenagers.

TKD

Went for my TKD grading exam today. I was not as nervous as I was when I went for my yellow tip grading..or so I thought. When I stood in front of the judge, I was so freaking nervous that I screwed up and actually have to restart on my own time. The rest of my friends completed their pattern and I could feel them waiting for me to complete mine and I was like telling myself, take it easy don't rush. I was so afraid I would fail because I was the only yellow tip that screwed up and had to redo the pattern. Instead I got one hell of a surprise, not only did I pass I manage to double to a green tip instead of a yellow belt. I was really really surprise because after the first white belt to yellow tip grading I had given up on double promotion and was just aiming to pass.

In other words my next grading will be for a green belt instead of a green tip. I am so happy that school experience (practicum) does not seem as dreadful as before. All I need to do is remember today and I will smile. OMG, I still can't believe it's real....I guess it has been quite a long time since I actually achieve something or rather anything.

Can't wait to finally get rid of my white belt!!

On another note, I realise that while tuition can be easy money, it can get quite troublesome because sometimes the timing is not fixed. I think I might get those small tuition class instead next time because the time is fixed.

Anyway, I really love this song from Chibi-Maruko....it is so nostalgic!! I love the show too and I am glad they are showing it on Animax. The plot is not very heavy or anything it is just about this young girl maruko and it is really hilarious!!

ponyo

Watched Ponyo today. Omg! It was simply cute!!! The story was a bit slow pace but I like how it is rather simple. Like the idea of being warm in the house when it is raining heavily outside and drinking tea with what i think is honey. Like just the simple things that make you smile and enjoy. Most importantly...ponyo was just so freaking cute!!! The round ponyo tummy reminds me of my mum Hahahahah so cute!!!!!!!

sentosa

Went to Sentosa today!!! Woots!! It was freaking fun!!!! Went with alfie, sarah & mariam!
We actually went to underwater world. It was quite fun!!
Went to universal studio...well not really universal studio, we hang around outside. It was amazingly fun and somehow I think better than the underwater world and the funny thing is it was free Hahahaha. It was free and better...interesting.

Hahaha as usual pictures on facebook. =)
